Well Information System (WIS)

Oil Well Donkey

WIS allows approved oil and gas operators to submit permit applications and reports electronically using the Internet. This includes the BLM forms for Notice of Staking (NOS), Application for Permit to Drill (APD), Well Completion Report, and Sundry Notice. Operators can also attach the required documents in PC files for these permits/reports.

A new version of WIS was released on August 1, 2008, now known as Non Indian Well Information System or WIS. Transactions may be submitted to any of the 42 BLM Field Offices which include the 10 BLM offices that process indian wells.

The Bureau of Land Management is reconnecting the web-based application for submitting and tracking oil and gas permitting forms (Notice of Staking, Application for Permit to Drill or Reenter, Sundry Notice and Well Completion Report). The web address used to access the WIS system is https://www.blm.gov/wispermits/wis/SP. You can log into the new system by clicking the Logon to WIS link below. You will need to configure your browser to use TLS to access WIS, if it is not already configured.
