M4E studies of Workload for "Rightsizing", are only looking at the TSC/Engineering/Science/Tech occupations. But, the Occupations graphs in the Workload Report (posted 10/24/06) on the M4E website) seem to have either an error, discrepency of some classification or a BOR has hired alot of Program Managers in the last two years.

In the Occupations pie chart on p.1 the number of Program Managers in 2006 is 977 (based on the 17% of 5750 employees) but on the bar chart in Appendix D, their numbers are somewhere about 400 in fy02 (can't tell exactly with the scale, its <500 anyway).

So have the numbers of Program Managers increased in two years by almost 600 new hires, or is something else going on?? I knew our overhead was high for a reason, now maybe I know why. I'd be really interested to know how many Program Managers we had in 1992 and how many we have now as a percentage of the workforce then and now. Perhaps M4E should be reviewing the 'other-side' of the pie-chart for possible "rightsizing" (i.e. RIFS)and opportunities for lowering overhead.
