National Institute of Health Program Office

Purpose

The purpose of the effort under the NIH program office is to bring unique capabilities and facilities at ORNL together to help meet the needs of the NIH.

We accomplish this through strategic partnerships with biomedical researchers at the nation’s foremost medical centers, and by leveraging unique assets, such as the Russell Laboratory for Functional and Comparative Genomics, leading capabilities in Systems Biology, the Spallation Neutron Source, the National Leadership Computing Facility, and the Center for Structural Molecular Biology.

These research endeavors and diverse collaborative  partnerships, are building a strong, well balanced portfolio that is in depth in both its foundations of knowledge and utility for applications that can improve and preserve human health through prevention, diagnosis, and treatment

This vision compliments and supports both DOE and NIH mission statements.
