Subject content: Provides journey-to-work data (place of residence by place of work) for workers 16 years old and over. It also provides data on worker characteristics, including sex by household relationship, age, race, Spanish origin, means of transportation, travel time to work, public transportation disability, labor force (including occupation, industry, and class of worker), and earnings in 1979.
The data are presented in three record types: places of residence by places of work for the entire U.S.; places of residence outside New England by minor civil divisions (MCDs) of work in New England; and MCDs of residence in New England by MCD's of work in New England.
Geography: Central cities, places of 25,000 or more and in New England, minor civil divisions (MCDs).
File format & Software: Flat ASCII, no software; Files are compressed and can be unzipped using standard unzipping software such as that found at www.pkware.com (etc.). Also includes .pdf files.
