Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey CD-ROMs
Conducted as part of the 2002 Economic Census, the Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey (VIUS) provides data on private and commerical trucks registered (or licenced) as of July 1, 2002. A sample of about 136,000 trucks were surveyed to measure the characteristics of nearly 89 million trucks registered in the United States. Data include body type, major use, truck type, size, annual miles, range of operation, fuel efficiency, annual lifetime mileage, model year, and equipment accessories.
Note: The survey excludes vehichles owned by federal, state, or local governments; ambulances; buses; motor homes; farm tractors; unpowered trailer units; and trucks reported to have been sold, junked, or wrecked prior to January 1, 2002.
