Availability: CD-ROMs containing the full array of data from the 1997 Economic Census. Data also available online in HTML or PDF format. PDF reports may also be purchased from the Customer Services Center as a print-on-demand product.

Four-disc combo containing the geographic (state) reports, industry reports, and subject reports for all economic sectors, the minority-owned and women-owned businesses reports, the Annual Survey of Manufactures reports, bridge tables between the Standard Industrial Classification and the North American Industry Classification System, and many other series.

• ZIP Code Statistics CD-ROM (volume 3). Provides ZIP code data for 9 of the 18 sectors covered in the 1997 Economic Census. Data include establishments by employment size by NAICS (all covered sectors) for establishments with fewer than 5 employees, 5 to 9, 10 to 19, 20 to 49, 50 to 99, and 100 employees or more and establishments by receipt size class by NAICS (all covered sectors except manufacturing) for establishments operated the entire year with sales or receipts under $100,000, $100,000 to $249,999, $250,000 to $499,999, $500,000 to $999,999, and $1 million or more. Also included are data on sales or receipts, annual payroll, and number of employees by sector (all covered sectors except manufacturing).

• Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey CD-ROM. Provides microdata on the physical and operational characteristics of the Nation's truck population. Contains over 100,000 individual truck records (modified to avoid identifying specific vehicles or owners). It also contains state and U.S. tables.

  Subject content: Data vary by series. Generally the Economic Census collects data on establishments, number of employees, revenues, value of shipping cost of materials, and many other variables. For more details on individual series go to the Economic Census page.

  Geography: Coverage varies by series. Generally, the Geographic Area Reports (volume 1) have data for the U.S. states, counties, and selected places. The ZIP Code Statistics CD-ROM has data for five-digit ZIP Code areas.

  File format: Files are stored in .mdb (Microsoft Access) format. The Vehicle Inventory and Use CD-ROM also has files in ASCII and uses IVATION 20/20 Browser as a platform.
