Frequently Asked Questions
 

1. Does the park have an admission charge? With the exception of the National Constitution Center, admission to all park sites is free.

 

2. When is the park open? The major park sites, including Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center are open from 9 am – 5 pm. Hours may be extended in the summer months. Hours of other park sites change seasonally.


3. Are tickets required?
For entrance into Independence Hall you must have a tour ticket with a specific day and time. You need a ticket from March 1 to December 31, except for July 4th and Thanksgiving. Walk-Up Tickets are available for free on the morning of your visit at the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Street starting at 8:30 AM. The first tour starts at 9:00AM. One person may request up to ten (10) tickets for a family or small group. The rest of the family or group does not need to be present when the tickets are picked up. For larger families, one person for each ten (10) people must come to pick up tickets. Everyone in the group needs a ticket, even infants.

Organized tours or school groups may obtain tickets for their entire group once the group is in the Independence Visitor Center. Up to 80 tickets will be given to one teacher or guide. Tickets may be reserved up to one year in advance through the National Park Reservation system. You may call (1-800-967-2283) from 10AM to 10 PM Eastern Time or you can use the website at http://www.recreation.gov. While tickets to Independence Hall are free, the reservation fee is $1.50 per ticket. Reserved tickets must be picked up at the "Will Call" section of the NPS ticket counter at the Independence Visitor Center (6th & Market Sts.) You must claim them (using reservation number and valid identification) at least 60 minutes before the tour on the day of your visit.

4. Are pets allowed in the park? Pets are not permitted in any park buildings. Pets are permitted on park grounds providing they are leashed.

5. What security measures are in place in the park? All visitors visiting the Liberty Bell Center and/or Independence Hall are required to process through security screening facilities similar to that in use at airports.

6. Where can I park my car? Parking is available it the Independence Visitor Center located at 6th and Market Streets.
