The Adventure Guide for Teens is a 16-page color booklet that introduces youth to the Appalachian Trail within this park. Topics include plate tectonics and the formation of the Appalachian chain, planning a day-hike, "leave-no-trace" backpacking, wildlife, and the reflections of a "thru-hiker." Those who successfully complete and turn in the booklet earn an Appalachian Trail patch and junior ranger rocker. 1. Pick up the booklet from a visitor center or park headquarters, or contact the park to ask for one to be mailed to you.
2. Return the completed booklet to a visitor center to check your answers with a ranger and to get your patch and rocker.

The Adventure Guide for Teens is available free by contacting the park . It can also be downloaded in sections (pdf files maximum 283KB).
