ACTION: Notice announcing dates of workshop, extending deadline for public comments, and modifying comment submission procedure. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The Federal Trade Commission has: (1) set June 8-9, 1999 as the dates for its public workshop examining U.S. perspectives on consumer protection in the global electronic marketplace announced in 63 Federal Register 69289 (December 16, 1998); (2) extended its deadline for receipt of comments to March 26, 1999; and (3) modified the procedure for comment submission to allow for electronic submissions. DATES: The deadline for papers and written comments has been extended to March 26, 1999. The workshop will be held June 8 and June 9, 1999. Comment Submission Procedure: Written comments should be submitted to: Secretary, Federal Trade Commission, Room H-159, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC, 20580. The Commission requests that commenters submit the original plus five copies, if feasible. To enable prompt review and accessibility to the public, papers and comments also should be submitted, if possible, in electronic form, on either one 5\1/4\ or one 3\1/2\ inch computer disk, with a disk label stating the name of the submitter and the name and version of the word processing program used to create the document. (Programs based on DOS or Windows are preferred. Files from other operating systems should be submitted in ASCII text format.) Alternatively, the Commission will accept comments submitted to the following e-mail address .
