Interstate Pollution Control, Inc. et al., Civil Action No. 98C50426, (N.D. Illinois) entered into by the United States and 57 parties, was lodged on January 4, 1999, with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Sec. 9601 et seq. (``CERCLA''). The settlement requires the Settling Defendants to make payment of $315,000 to the United States following entry of the proposed Consent Decree. The Consent Decree includes a covenant not to sue by the United States under Section 107(a) of CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. 9607(a), for recovery of past response costs at the Site. The Department of Justice will receive, for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of this publication, comments relating to the proposed Consent Decree.
