Agency: Bureau of the Census. Title: Informal Caregivers Survey (ICS)--Component of the Long Term Care Survey (LTC). Form Number(s): LTC-1, LTC-2, LTC-3, LTC-4, LTC-7, LTC-10, BNL-1, LTC-9P(L1), LTC-9(1), LTC-9(L2), LTC-9(3). Agency Approval Number: 0607-0778. Type of Request: Revision of a currently approved collection. Burden: 11,731 hours. Number of Respondents: 22,985. Avg Hours Per Response: 30 minutes. Needs and Uses: The Census Bureau seeks OMB approval to conduct the Informal Caregivers Survey (ICS) as a component of the Long Term Care Survey (LTC) which is already approved by OMB. The LTC collects information on the health and functional status of the elderly population in the United States. The ICS will collect information from the persons who provide help to impaired LTC respondents concerning the type and amount of care given, the caregiver's functional and health status, whether the caregiver is paid, and the caregiver's relation to the impaired person. Results of the ICS will provide planners with information to determine how to meet the future health care needs of people 65 years old and over. The ICS is sponsored by the Center for Demographic Studies, Duke University, with funding from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Institute on Aging. The Census Bureau will conduct the ICS under contract with Duke University. Affected Public: Individuals and households. Frequency: On occasion. Respondent's Obligation: Voluntary.
