ACTION: Notice of request for public comments regarding an extension to an existing OMB clearance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: Under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Secretariat will be submitting to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a request to review and approve an extension of a currently approved information collection requirement concerning Transportation Requirements. The clearance currently expires on May 31, 1999. DATES: Comments may be submitted on or before April 9, 1999. Purpose FAR Part 47 and related clauses contain policies and procedures for applying transportation and traffic management considerations in the acquisition of supplies and acquiring transportation or transportation- related services. Generally, contracts involving transportation require information regarding the nature of the supplies, method of shipment, place and time of shipment, applicable charges, marking of shipments, shipping documents and other related items. This information is required to ensure proper and timely shipment of Government supplies. B. Annual Reporting Burden Public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average .23 hours per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information. The annual reporting burden is estimated as follows: Respondents, 65,000; responses per respondent, 4.4; total annual responses, 286,000; preparation hours per response, .23; and total response burden hours, 65,780.
