ACTION: Notice of submission for the Office of Management and Budget's review and request for comment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Department of Energy (DOE), has submitted the information collection entitled ``Study of Central Air Conditioner Life Cycle Costs'' to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review under provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (Public Law 104-13). The listing does not include collections of information contained in new or revised regulations which are to be submitted under section 3507(d)(1)(A) of the Paperwork Reduction Act. The following information is provided: (1) Collection title; (2) summary of the collection of information (includes sponsor (the DOE component)), current OMB document number (if applicable), type of request (new, revision, extension, or reinstatement); response obligation (mandatory, voluntary, or required to obtain or retain benefits); (3) a description of the need and proposed use of the information; (4) a description of the likely respondents; and (5) an estimate of the total annual reporting burden (estimated number of respondents times the proposed frequency of response per year times the estimated average hours per response.) Collection title: Study of Central Air Conditioner Life Cycle Costs 2. The collection is a new request and is sponsored by the Office of Building Research and Standards, Office of Building Technology, State and Community Programs, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, U.S. Department of Energy. Response is voluntary. 3. The Study of Central Air Conditioner Life Cycle Costs will survey participants in central air conditioner and heat pump markets to determine current retail unitary equipment prices and installation costs by equipment efficiency level. The information collection will include contractors participating in the residential unitary equipment market. Consumers will not be surveyed. Questions will attempt to gather data related to equipment costs, sales volumes, and other information pertinent to the determination of retail prices. 4. The respondents are likely to be businesses or other for-profit organizations. 5.
