[Federal Register: December 27, 1999 (Volume 64, Number 247)] [Notices] [Page 72314] From the Federal Register Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov] [DOCID:fr27de99-47] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE Submission For OMB Review; Comment Request DOC has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for collection of information under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. chapter 35). Agency: U.S. Census Bureau. Title: Quarterly Survey of the Finances of Public Employee Retirement Systems. Form Number(s): F-10. Agency Approval Number: 0607-0143. Type of Request: Revision of a currently approved collection. Burden: 408 hours. Number of Respondents: 102. Avg Hours Per Response: 1 hour. Needs and Uses: This survey provides, on a quarterly basis, nationwide data on the cash and security holdings of the 102 largest public-employee retirement systems. These 102 systems control billions of asset dollars and represent 80 percent of the total assets of all public employee retirement systems. The most important information this survey provides is the quarterly change in composition of the securities holdings of this component of the economy. The Federal Reserve Board, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and others use these data to monitor and analyze investment trends and to formulate governmental economic policies and investment decisions. In this request, we are revising the form to make it compatible with our annual collection of government finance data in the Annual Survey of Government Finances (OMB number 0607-0585). We will also begin asking for both book value and market value of bonds and stocks in an effort to eliminate confusion over which value to report. This is also in-line with reporting in the annual government finance collection. Affected Public: State, Local, or Tribal Government. Frequency: Quarterly. Respondent's Obligation: Voluntary. Legal Authority: Title 13 U.S.C., Section 182. OMB Desk Officer: Susan Schechter, (202) 395-5103. Copies of the above information collection proposal can be obtained by calling or writing Linda Engelmeier, DOC Forms Clearance Officer, (202) 482-3272, Department of Commerce, room 5027, 14th and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20230 (or via the Internet at LEngelme@doc.gov). Written comments and recommendations for the proposed information collection should be sent within 30 days of publication of this notice to Susan Schechter, OMB Desk Officer, room 10201, New Executive Office Building, Washington, DC 20503. Dated: December 21, 1999. Madeleine Clayton, Management Analyst, Office of the Chief Information Officer. [FR Doc. 99-33468 Filed 12-23-99; 8:45 am] BILLING CODE 3510-07-P
