The proposed dredging activities would occur in the center of the river channel along a 1.33 mile long section of the Yellow River and a 2.4 mile long section of the South River. A 25-foot-wide buffer would be maintained on each side of the river and approximately 32 acres of land outside the project boundary would be occupied by processing equipment and sediment ponds necessary for the dredging operation. The license states the proposed dredging activities would perform maintenance of the river channels necessary to improve wildlife habitat, reduce the incidence of flooding of adjacent properties during high flow events, and enhance recreational boating and the project reservoir's capacity. l.
