Sec. 4301 et seq. (``the Act''), The Dow Chemical Company (``DOW``) has filed written notifications simultaneously with the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission disclosing (1) the identities of the parties and (2) the nature and objectives of the venture. The notifications were filed for the purpose of invoking the Act's provisions limiting the recovery of antitrust plaintiffs to actual damages under specified circumstances. Pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Act, the identifies of the parties are The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, MI; and Magna International of America, Inc., Farmington Hills, MI. The nature and objectives of the venture are to effectively and efficiently engage in the research and development of a process to produce composite parts reinforced with nano-sized fillers to decrease both the cost of manufacture and weight of vehicles. This research and development is being undertaken with the intent of developing technology for the manufacture of automobile parts having lower cost of manufacture and to reduce the weight of automobiles and other models of vehicular transportation.
