Environmental Statements; Availability, etc.; Little River Canyon 
National Preserve, AL

ACTION: Notice of Availability of a Draft Environmental Impact 
Statement (EIS) on a General Management Plan (GMP) for Little River 
Canyon National Preserve, Alabama.

SUMMARY: Little River Canyon National Preserve was established by 
Congress in 1992 to preserve the area's natural, scenic, recreational, 
and cultural resources and provide for public enjoyment of those 
resources.
    This is the first general management plan for the preserve. This 
plan presents only broad strategies for resource management and visitor 
use. Two alternatives are presented: a proposal and a ``no action'' 
alternative representing a general continuation of existing conditions.

DATES: A series of public meetings will be held in surrounding 
communities in the winter of 1999. Please consult with local newspapers 
for the times and locations or call the park for this information.
