ACTION: Notice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: This order opens, subject to the provisions of Section 24 of the Federal Power Act, approximately 61 acres of public land reserved for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Connelly Lake Hydroelectric Project No. 11715-000 (formerly known as the Upper Chilkoot Hydroelectric Project No. 11319-001). This action will permit conveyance of the land to the State of Alaska, if such land is otherwise available. EFFECTIVE DATE: July 29, 1999. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Robbie J. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: By virtue of the authority vested in the Secretary of the Interior by the Act of June 10, 1920, Section 24, as amended, 16 U.S.C. 818 (1994), and pursuant to the determination by the FERC in DVAK-153-000, it is ordered as follows: Subject to valid existing rights, existing withdrawals, or other segregations of record, and the requirements of applicable law, at 8:00 a.m., on July 29, 1999, the following described public land is hereby opened to allow for conveyance of the land to the State of Alaska, subject to the provisions of Section 24 of the Federal Power Act: The FERC Power Project No. 11715 (Connelly Lake Hydroelectric Project (AA-81880)) located within secs. 22, 26, 27, 34, 35, and 36, T. 28 S., R. 57 E., and secs. 4, 5, 9, 10, 14, 15, 22, 23, 25, and 26, T. 29 S., R. 58 E., Copper River Meridian. The area affected by this order contains approximately 61 acres. The State of Alaska application for selection made under Section 6(b) of the Alaska Statehood Act of July 7, 1958, 48 U.S.C. note prec. 21 (1994), and under Section 906(e) of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, 43 U.S.C. 1635(e) (1994), becomes effective without further action by the State upon publication of this order in the Federal Register, if such land is otherwise available. The land described herein will continue to be subject to the provisions of the FERC Power Project No. 11715, pursuant to the authority set forth in Section 24 of the Federal Power Act, as amended, 16 U.S.C. 818 (1994).
