ACTION: Notice of meeting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will convene two sub- committee meetings of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes as follows: The Diagnostic Sub-Committee Meeting will be held on February 23 and 24, 1999; the Therapeutic Sub-Committee meeting will be held on February 25 and 26, 1999. Both meetings, which are open to the public, will take place at the address provided below. The discussions will be focused on resolution of comments received on the proposed revision to 10 CFR part 35 (Medical Use of Byproduct Material) that was published in the Federal Register for comment on August 13, 1998 (63 FR 43580). The Diagnostic Sub-Committee will focus on comments pertaining to uses of unsealed byproduct material in medicine (Secs. 35.100, 35.200, and 35.300). The Therapeutic Sub-Committee will focus on comments pertaining to therapeutic uses of sealed sources (Secs. 35.400 and 35.600). Conduct of the Meetings The Diagnostic Sub-Committee meeting will be chaired by Mr. Dennis Swanson. Dr. Judith Stitt will chair the Therapeutic Sub-Committee meeting. Each sub-committee meeting will be conducted in a manner that will facilitate the orderly conduct of business. The following procedures apply to public participation in the meetings: 1. Persons who wish to provide a written statement should submit a reproducible copy to Mary Louise Roe (address listed previously), by February 19, 1999. Statements must pertain to the topics on the agenda for the meeting. 2. Questions from members of the public will be permitted during the meetings at the discretion of the Chairmen. 3.
