Notice of Application Tendered for Filing With the Commission and 
Soliciting Additional Study Requests

March 5, 1999.
    Take notice that the following hydroelectric application has been 
filed with the Commission and is available for public inspection:
    a. Type of Application: New Major License.

    c. Date Filed: February 19, 1999.
    d. Applicant: Dairyland Power Cooperative--Wisconsin.
    e. Name of Project: Flambeau Hydroelectric Station.
    f. Location: On the Flambeau River in Rusk County, Wisconsin. The 
project does not utilize federal lands.
    g. Filed Pursuant to: Federal Power Act 16 U.S.C. Secs. 791(a)-
825(r).

    All documents (original and eight copies) should be filed with:

    The Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure require all 
intervenors filing documents with the Commission to serve a copy of 
that document on each person whose name appears on the official service 
list for the project. Further, if an intervenor files comments or 
documents with the Commission relating to the merits of an issue that 
may affect the responsibilities of a particular resource agency, they 
must also serve a copy of the document on that resource agency.
    k. Status of environmental analysis: This application is not ready 
for environmental analysis at this time.
    l. Description of the Project: The project consists of the 
following existing facilities: (1) a right earthen dam, 2,570 feet-long 
and a left earthen dam 2,130 feet-long, separated by a 138 foot-long 
gated spillway section with a crest elevation of 1157.0 feet NGVD; (2) 
a 1,900-acre reservoir with a normal water surface elevation of 1183.48 
feet NGVD; (3) a powerhouse containing 3 vertical Kaplan turbines each 
connected to generator units for a total installed capacity of 15,000 
kW; and (4) appurtenant facilities. The average annual energy 
generation is 60,727,590 kWh.
