The September 1 session will convene at 8:00 a.m. and adjourn at 4 p.m. in Room C7C and the September 2 session will convene at 8:00 a.m. and adjourn at 12:00 noon in Room 630. On the morning of September 1, the Committee will receive briefings by the National Program Directors of the Special-Disabilities Programs regarding the status of their activities over the last six months. In the afternoon, the Committee will receive a briefing on the data collection methodology used in the Report to Congress on Maintaining Capacity to Provide for the Specialized Treatment and Rehabilitative Needs of Disabled Veterans. On the morning of September 2, the Committee will be given a status report on the development of outcome measures for the special disability programs. The Committee will finish with a discussion on its recommendations with input from VHA senior manager (Chief Patient Care Services Officer.) The purpose of the Committee on Prosthetics and Special- Disabilities Programs is to advise the Department on its prosthetic programs designed to provide state-of-the-art prosthetics and the associated rehabilitation research, development, and evaluation of such technology. The Committee also advises the Department on special disability programs which are defined as any program administered by the Secretary to serve veterans with spinal cord injury, blindness or vision impairment, loss of or loss of use of extremities, deafness or hearing impairment, or other serious incapacities in terms of daily life functions.
