ACTION: Notice of meeting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: This notice announces a meeting of the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force's Ruffe Control Committee. The meeting is open to the public. Meeting topics are identified in the SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION. DATES: The Ruffe Control Committee will meet from 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 1998, through noon on Thursday, October 29, 1998. ADDRESSES: The meeting will be held at the Canal Park Inn Duluth-- Lakeshore, 250 Canal Park Drive (at Lake Avenue and I-35), Duluth, Minnesota. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Pursuant to section 10(a)(2) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, this notice announces a public meeting of the Ruffe Control Committee of the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force. The Task Force was established by the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990. Topics to be covered will include: the status of existing ruffe populations, results of the 1998 ruffe surveillance [[Page 53692]] and the experimental ruffe population reduction in Chequamegon Bay; updates on the ballast water management initiatives, the Chicago ship and sanitary canal dispersal barrier, the bait fish management initiatives, public education activities, and ruffe research projects; and a discussion of the resilience fish communities to ruffe invasions. Minutes of the meeting will be maintained by the Chair, Ruffe Control Committee, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Fishery Resources Office, 2800 Lake Shore Drive East, Ashland, Wisconsin 54806-2427, and Executive Secretary, Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force, Suite 851, 4401 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22203-1622.
