Project Number: M:SP:V 97-030-G. Type of Review: Revision. Title: Coordinated Examination Program Taxpayer Survey Initiative. Description: Coordinated Examination Program (CEP) Peer Review has changed from a process review of closed cases to a multi-phased quality review that will focus upon all aspects of a CEP examination. The on- site review will now focus solely on determining the quality of issue development rather than measuring the CEP process. The reports will be formatted into a CEP auditing standards outline. The four-phase approach will enable the IRS to maintain and build upon its benchmark data while expanding the issue review aspects of the Peer Review. The four phases are: (1) data analysis of closed cases; (2) in-depth issue review; (3) case manager self-assessment; and (4) taxpayer/stakeholder input. Respondents: Business or other for-profit. Estimated Number of Respondents: 1,600. Estimated Burden Hours Per Response: 30 minutes. Frequency of Response: Other (one-time only). Estimated Total Reporting Burden: 800 hours. Clearance Officer: Garrick Shear, (202) 622-3869, Internal Revenue Service, Room 5571, 1111 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20224. OMB Reviewer: Alexander T. Hunt, (202) 395-7860, Office of Management and Budget, Room 10226, New Executive Office Building, Washington, DC 20503. Lois K. Holland, Departmental Reports Management Officer.
