[Federal Register: February 23, 1998 (Volume 63, Number 35)] [Notices] [Page 8975] From the Federal Register Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov] [DOCID:fr23fe98-93] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY Federal Energy Regulatory Commission [Project No. 11181-002] Energy Storage Partners; Notice of Intent To Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement and To Conduct Scoping Meetings February 17, 1998. The staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (staff) has determined that issuance of a license for the construction and operation of the proposed Lorella Pumped Storage Project, FERC No. 11181-002, in Klamath County, Oregon, would constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment. Therefore, the staff intends to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) on the proposed project in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The staff's EIS will consider both site- specific and cumulative environmental impacts and reasonable alternatives to the proposed action. The scoping process will provide a public forum to determine the scope and the significant issues that should be analyzed in depth in the EIS. The times and locations of the scoping meetings and public hearings will be announced in a subsequent public notice. For further information, please contact the FERC Project Coordinator, Hector M. Perez at (202) 219-2843. David P. Boergers, Acting Secretary. [FR Doc. 98-4433 Filed 2-20-98; 8:45 am] BILLING CODE 6717-01-M
