[Federal Register: February 19, 1998 (Volume 63, Number 33)] [Notices] [Page 8503] From the Federal Register Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov] [DOCID:fr19fe98-113] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Docket Nos. 50-269, 50-270, AND 50-287 Duke Energy Corporation; Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendments to Facility Operating Licenses The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted the request of Duke Energy Corporation (the licensee) to withdraw its September 4, 1997, application for proposed amendments to Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-38, DPR-47, and DPR-55 for the Oconee Nuclear Station Units 1, 2, and 3, respectively, located in Seneca, South Carolina. The proposed amendments would have revised the Technical Specifications (TS) pertaining to the justification of the acceptability of the current TS for the High Pressure Injection (HPI) System and allowing operation at reduced power levels with two HPI pumps. The submittal was made because of the potential for an extended shutdown to repair the 3B HPI pump that existed at the time the amendments were proposed. The 3B pump has been repaired. The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendments published in the Federal Register on September 24, 1997 (62 FR 50003). However, by letter dated February 9, 1998, the licensee withdrew the proposed change. For further details with respect to this action, see the application for amendments dated September 4, 1997, and the licensee's letter dated February 9, 1998, which withdrew the application for license amendments. The above documents are available for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room, the Gelman Building, 2120 L Street, NW., Washington, DC, and at the local public document room located at the Oconee County Library, 501 West South Broad Street, Walhalla, South Carolina. Dated at Rockville, Maryland, this 12th day of February 1998. For the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. David E. LaBarge, Senior Project Manager, Project Directorate II-2, Division of Reactor Projects--I/II, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. [FR Doc. 98-4147 Filed 2-18-98; 8:45 am] BILLING CODE 7590-01-P
