Data are available for all food components disseminated in SR17. The current SR release contains data up to 128 components. The Windows® search application was developed by the Nutrient Data Laboratory (NDL) through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with HealtheTech, Inc. of Golden, Colorado. This product enables investigators, health professionals, academics and students to have full access to all of the high quality food composition data contained in SR17 without being connected to the Internet.

Technical Abstract: The Nutrient Data Laboratory (NDL) has released an easily searchable version of the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Rel. 17 (SR17) for use on personal computers using the Windows® Operating System, Windows® 98SE and above. This product is available for download, at no cost, from the NDL Web site at www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp. This search application originally blended SR15 with custom search software developed through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with HealtheTech, Inc., of Golden, Colorado. The software package, as modified for SR17, gives access to all food components for the 6,839 food items disseminated in SR17. A given food item may contain data for up 128 food components. Using this search application, users can custom modify any portion size disseminated with an SR16 food item, obtaining printable reports of nutrient levels in the user-specified portion. This software enables investigators, health professionals, academics, students, and the general public to have full access to all nutrient data in the latest version of the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference on their own personal computers without the necessity of being connected to the Internet.
