Curriculum-based Education Programs are offered Monday through Friday from September through November, and from March through early June, as weather and staffing permit. Outreach programs in the school classroom are offered in January and February as staffing permits.

Programs generally last 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Selecting an Appropriate Program
George Washington Birthplace offers several different curriculum-based education programs. Click here for information to help you choose the best program for your group.

Reservations
Reservations are required in advance. To reserve a date for a program, call the park at 804-224-1732, ext 227. We suggest that you book your program as far in advance as possible. Dates in March through June fill up quickly.

Fee Waivers
A waiver of the $4.00 individual entrance fee will be granted to school groups who participate in one of our curriculum-based programs and bring or mail a request for an education fee waiver from their principle on school letterhead. If you are homeschooling, please bring or mail your request on plain paper, stating that you are a homeschool group.

Preparation
Students should dress for the weather, be prepared to be outside, and wear large print nametags with the student's first name on their outer layer of clothing.

Curriculum materials to help students be prepared to get the most from their visit and understand concepts taught at the park are available with the description of each program.

Restrooms
Restrooms are located at the visitor center and picnic area.

Picnic Area
The park picnic area provides picnic tables, grills, and restrooms.

Giftshop and Bookstore
The park giftshop and bookstore has items that appeal to both boys and to girls.
