Fire Island National Seashore
Plan A Field Trip

You may bring your school group to one of Fire Island National Seashore's facilities for a self-guided tour, or with prior arrangements, attend a ranger- or volunteer-conducted curriculum-based program.

The Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society conducts a program designed to accommodate the fourth grade curriculum (Long Island History), for groups of up to 50 students. The program consists of three consecutive 45-minute segments, which include: 1) Tower climb, 2) United States Life Saving Service (USLSS) lecture and demonstration, and 3) Forces of Nature (nature walk). A fee is charged. For more information or to schedule your class, call the FILPS Program Coordinator at 631-661-4876.

Programs at the Wilderness Visitor Center, Watch Hill or Sailors Haven may also be arranged, although staffing is limited. Please contact the Interpretation & Education staff at 631-687-4765, or e-mail us.
