How long will our visit take?
You should plan to spend at least 2 to 2 1/2  hours at the park if you intend to hike and eat lunch. The video at the visitor center runs 10 minutes and the Ranger orientation talk is 10-15 minutes. The crater vent trail is 1/2 mile round trip and the rim trail is 1 mile.

Plan time for restroom breaks and lunch. The restrooms are small and it will take 15-20 minutes for large groups.

Our bookstore is small in space and large in appeal. We welcome your students' purchases, but please plan to limit them to 10 students at a time in the store area.

Food. There are no restaurants, snacks, or fast food near the monument. Plan for a picnic lunch or time to travel at least 30 miles to the nearest food.
