Open wooden chest displays brochures and other items to enhance an educational tour of Fire Island.
The 10-pound, 18x12x16-inch Fire Island Treasure Chest contains a number of items to enhance a field trip.

Educational treasure chests are available for classroom use, to help your students get more from their class visit to Fire Island National Seashore.

These chests contain field guides to the island, seashore life, shells, sand samples, magnets, a magnifying glass, teacher’s packet, plant guides, and other treasures.

Please call two or more weeks in advance of your visit to reserve a treasure chest. You can then pick up a treasure chest for your class at the Fire Island National Seashore interpretation office in Patchogue, New York, and return the chest when you visit the park.

Within Suffolk County we may be able to deliver the chest to your school, accompanied by a park ranger who will visit the classroom for 30 minutes, introducing the wonders of Fire Island.

There is no charge for this ranger service or for borrowing the treasure chest. To reserve a treasure chest and to schedule a ranger visit contact:
