Materials For Loan

Traveling Trunks are available for loan from Instructional Media Centers in Del Norte and Humboldt county.  These contain curriculum-based education materials for 7th and 8th grade teachers from the local counties.  Trunks may be checked out for a three week period for use in the classroom.

The materials available to classroom teachers include a 115-page teacher’s guide and a wheeled resource truck containing supplies needed for the lessons. The teacher’s guide has 11 different units that explore research methods used by the parks' resource managers and how this research helps determine management decisions and practices.

Contact the education specialist at (707) 465-7391 for more information.

Did You Know?
The famous drive-through giant sequoia in the Mariposa Grove of Yosemite National Park fell in 1969 under heavy snow. Today there are three coast redwood drive-through trees along Highway 101 in northern California. All are on private property and charge admission.
