Background

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is soliciting proposals for
research addressing violence against women. Violence against women is
defined as intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and
may include violence committed by acquaintances and strangers.
Proposals are encouraged for research aimed at enhancing our knowledge
of factors associated with three types of outcomes: Victim safety,
offender accountability, and system accountability.
NIJ anticipates awarding up to 10 grants of varying amounts with a
funding total of $2,000,000.
Interested organizations should call the National Criminal Justice
Reference Service (NCJRS) at 1-800-851-3420 to obtain a copy of
``Research and Evaluation on Violence Against Women'' (refer to
document no. SL000398). For World Wide Web access, connect to either
