MDW has a multitude of responsibilities ranging from performing expert concerts with the U.S. Army Band, rendering honors at Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknowns, to protecting the Nation's capital.
The command was integral to the planning and execution of the state funeral on behalf of President Gerald R. Ford, who was laid to rest Jan. 3, 2007, in Grand Rapids, Mich. It is the core element and Army component of Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region.
