State Legislative History Research Guides If you need to do state legislative history research and aren't sure where to start, a good resource is the State Legislative History Research Guides on the Web from Indiana University School of Law Library -- Bloomington. This resource is an alphabetical list by state of links to state legislatures (click on state name), research guides, and sources. Since the guides are from multiple sources (academic, government, commercial), they vary in number and comprehensiveness. For example, Alaska has links to the legislature and a 28-page guide to legislative history materials created by the Legislative Reference Library of the Alaska State Legislature. Arizona has links to the legislature and three guides created by the University of Arizona Law Library, Arizona State University and the Arizona State Library. The guides provide information such as the types of legislative documents, where they can be obtained (print and/or electronic), date ranges, and contact information. |
