Performance Measures
House Bill 3358, passed in 2001, directs state agencies to create performance measures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their programs and services.  Below you will find OBSLPA´s goals and performance measures.
 
Mission Statement:
The Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology seeks to protect the public by licensing and regulating the performance of speech-language pathologists, speech-language pathology assistants and audiologists.

SB 786
Universal access to high quality health care at an affordable cost for all Oregonians, regardless of ethnic or cultural background.  (4) Each board shall maintain records of the racial and ethnic makeup of applicants and professionals regulated by the board. (Mandated)

ORS Chapter 681
Governs the practice of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in Oregon; change in statute now governs assistants as well.
 
Agency Goal Key Performance Measure 2005 Target
Goal 1 Better serve minorities in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology profession by first collecting data about licensees.
  Percentage of successful applicants and licensees who voluntarily report their ethnicity.
  33% of applicants and renewing licensees report ethnicity.
Goal 2 Increase Oregon school district awareness of statutory requirement for certified Speech Assistants.
  Number of Oregon school districts (out of 198) with a certified Speech Assistant on staff.
  60 school districts.
Goal 3 Protect the public from sub-standard practice in Oregon.
  Percentage of audited licensees who are in compliance with continuing professional development requirements.
  100% of licensees audited are in compliance.
