Austin, TX
Austin Parks and Recreation Department / Austin, Texas Austin has a rich history of successful adaptive sports programs coordinated through Austin Adaptive Sports / St. David’s Rehabilitation System. Since the inception of BlazeSports Club Austin in 2002, there have been even more disabled sporting opportunities in Austin. The two programs work together to reach more participants and cover more programs. The Austin program has adult wheelchair basketball year round, Quad Rugby in the fall and winter, track in the fall, winter and spring, and wheelchair tennis in the spring & summer. The track program participates in numerous local and national events. The tennis program is for beginners to elite with many opportunities for competitions offered in Texas. Quad Rugby is just beginning, but has hopes of joining USQRA and competing in some local tournaments. They have held many BlazeDay for specific sports and have hosted some summer days camps specific to junior athletes. |
