Fishing at Eufaula NWR
Lake Eufaula (Walter F. George Reservoir) is a destination hot spot for fishing.
Fishing is permitted year-round on all refuge waters. State and federal laws apply. Check regulations before fishing.
Lake Eufaula size and creel limits apply in all refuge waters.
Bank fishing is limited to daylight hours.
Frogging, turtle trapping, commercial fishing and boats with motors are not permitted in refuge impounded waters.
Fishing in Lake Eufaula is legal with Alabama or Georgia fishing license; fishing in refuge impounded waters requires a license for the state in which you are fishing.
Several public boat ramps are available throughout the refuge vicinity. See the Refuge Map for details. Caution should be taken due to shallow waters with submerged stumps. Opportunities for canoeing are also available. Boats are not permitted in refuge impoundments. Air boats, hovercraft and jet skis are not permitted within refuge boundaries.
Littering
Please take your litter home or dispose of it properly. Bank fishing will be closed if litter is not removed at the conclusion of your visit.
