FDA and Tobacco Regulation

On March 21, 2000, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lacks the authority to regulate tobacco. Therefore, FDA no longer maintains its Children and Tobacco Website.

Federal Register notices and many other documents related to FDA's tobacco regulations (struck down by the Supreme Court) can be found on the Government Printing Office's Web site.

Court-related documents can be found on the Department of Justice's Web site.

To obtain other FDA tobacco-related documents no longer available online, please file a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
