| Protective Intelligence InvestigationsThe Protective Intelligence Investigations Division (PII), one of the investigative divisions of Office of Investigations and Counterintelligence, conducts investigations into terrorist incidents and threats made against Department of State employees and facilities domestically and abroad. In 2002, PII monitored over 1,200 threat-related incidents. Special agents assigned to PII also provide support to DS protective details.
