FOURTEEN MEMBERS OF TWO CRACK, COCAINE, MARIJUANA, AND ECSTASY DISTRIBUTION RINGS INDICTED

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Jonathan I. Solomon, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, John F. Timoney, Chief, City of Miami Police Department, announced the return of two indictments on September 25, 2008, charging fourteen individuals in connection with their roles in a crack, powder cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy distribution ring. Twelve of the fourteen are in custody, and will be making their initial appearances in federal court. Only defendants Johnny Jasmin and Darius Anton Daniels remain at large.

The indictments charged defendants Kilvin Jasmin, a/k/a “Fat,” Johnny Jasmin, Kevin Stewart, a/k/a “Doodoo,” Duane Miller, a/k/a “D,” Jamal Pratt, Martelli Glover, a/k/a “Jit,” Danny Luis Glover, Carlos Alberto Jean, a/k/a “Los,” and Derrick Decarlo Phillips, Jr., a/k/a “Worm,” in one drug distribution conspiracy, and James Jovan Ladson, Derrick Decarlo Phillips, Jr., a/k/a “Worm,” Carlos Alberto Jean, a/k/a “Los,” Jhonny Lee Harris, Jr., Jhonny Jasmin, Darius Anton Daniels, Craig S. Tonge, and Ashley Kenesha Tonge in a second drug distribution conspiracy to possess crack, powder cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846. Kilvin Jasmin is also charged in the first indictment with possession of a firearm in furtherance a drug trafficking offense, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A). If convicted, the defendants face possible sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment. If convicted of the firearms offense, Kilvin Jasmin faces a consecutive term of of 5 years to life imprisonment.

Mr. Acosta commended the investigative efforts of the FBI and City of Miami Police Department for their work in this investigation. These cases are being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alejandro O. Soto.
