Public input sought on BLM Little Mountain Activity Plan

The Bureau of Land Management, Cody Field Office, is asking for public input on the draft of the Little Mountain Activity Plan and Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) route designations, and the associated Environmental Assessment (EA).

The Little Mountain planning area consists of 69,044 acres of public land, located 13 miles east of Lovell, Wyoming, and includes numerous and diverse areas of critical environmental concern, and special recreation areas. The Little Mountain Activity Plan integrates management of the multiple resources, designations, and activities in the area. While an earlier plan authorized OHV use “limited to designated roads and trails,” the Little Mountain plan goes further, specifying which roads and trails will be designated for OHV use.

A public meeting to discuss the plan will be held September 7, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fire Hall, 314 Nevada Avenue in Lovell, Wyoming. A short presentation will be given describing the plan alternatives and the planning process. The meeting is an opportunity to ask questions, review maps, and to complete comment forms. The documents and maps are available for review at www.wy.blm.gov/nepa/cyfodocs/littlemountain, at the BLM Cody Field Office, 1002 Blackburn Avenue, Cody, and at public libraries throughout the Big Horn Basin.
