The Maritime Museum, in the Aquatic Park Bathhouse Building, is Closed

The Maritime Museum is currently closed so much needed restoration work can be accomplished. The building closed on July 10, 2006, and will reopen in 2009. Click here for more information.

Park ranger-led tours of the first floor of the building are offered every Thursday and Saturday through November, 2008 at 11:00am. Meet at the entrance to the building, 900 Beach Street, at the foot of Polk Street. For more information call the Visitor Center, 415-447-5000.

Although the Museum is closed, the San Francisco Senior Center, which operates out of the lower level of the building, will remain open throughout the construction.

The last stop and turnaround point for the Powell/Hyde cable car line.

Did You Know?
San Francisco Maritime is the only NPS site that has a cable car turnaround adjacent to the park. Riders disembark and workers push the cars around on the track to position them for the next journey back up steep Hyde Street.
