Adela Acosta of Maryland—Member of the President's Commission on Excellence in Special Education

Adela Acosta is currently principal of the Cesar Chavez Elementary School in Prince George's County, Md. She holds a master of science in education from the University of Kansas. From 1978 to 1989, Acosta was a senior program specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice, working with schools and school districts on multicultural and desegregation issues. For the past decade, Acosta has worked as a teacher, assistant principal and principal in schools in Maryland.
