Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this where concerts are held?
Yes, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts hosts nearly 100 performances each summer at the Filene Center, and about 70 shows for children at the Theatre-in-the-Woods. The Barns of Wolf Trap are not part of Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.

2. Can we bring lawn chairs to Filene Center performances?
Lawn chairs with legs (this includes the short legged beach/sand chairs) are allowed only in designated areas located on the top/back of the lawn seating area. Signs are posted to identify these areas. Chairs without legs/cushions and blankets are allowed on all areas of the lawn.

3. Can we bring alcoholic beverages, picnic baskets or coolers?
No food or drink is allowed in the covered seating area at the Filene Center at any time, with the exception of water.

Picnic baskets and coolers are allowed on the lawn at Filene Center performances. Alcoholic beverages, whether in bottles or cans (no kegs) are allowed on the lawn and plaza areas. There are recycling bins located in the park for responsible disposal of these products. Possession of alcoholic beverages by minors and furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors is illegal and will be prosecuted.

For Children's Theatre performances: No food or drink is allowed is allowed in the theater, except for water. If you would like to have a picnic after the shows, please keep any picnic coolers closed and stored under the benches or outside the theater.

4. What if it rains?
Filene Center Performances: All scheduled performances go on, rain or shine. There are no refunds due to inclement weather. Lawn tickets may be used towards the purchase of any available in-house seating.

Theatre-in-the-Woods Performances: Children's Theatre performances are canceled if it rains. Please call (703) 255-1827 the day of the show to learn about rain information.

5. Where is the Lost & Found?
Lost items are temporarily held at the Ranger Station. Please call (703) 255-1820 if you lost something.

6. When do the gates open?
Filene Center Performances: The gates open 1 1/2 hours prior to the performance time and the pavilion seating area opens 30 minutes prior to the performance.

Theatre-in-the-Woods performances: The Children's Theatre opens at 9:30 am for shows that are at 10:00 am. For the 11:15 am, the gates open at approximately 11:00 am.
