Building Inclusive Recreational Opportunities
Description

Business Leaders Network

Community Accessibility

Criminal Justice
Description

Evaluation

First Responders Disability Awareness
Description
The First Responders project will establish an effective multi-media training/education program on disability awareness for first responders. Grassroots Advocacy Projects 7/1/08 - 9/30/09
Description
Grassroots Advocacy Grants are intended to provide limited resources for a short term period (usually 12 to 18 months) in order to increase the capability of local groups to pursue advocacy initiatives of their choice. Projects funded under this objective support voluntary, citizen-based advocacy activities including those aimed at changing social conditions or governmental systems affecting people with developmental disabilities as well as activities which strengthen and support the ability of grassroots groups and individuals to advocate more effectively. The projects must be developed and directed by a majority of people with disabilities and/or the parents of children with developmental disabilities.

Inclusive Child Care
Description
This grant has demonstrated the practicality and benefits of inclusive child care settings throughout the Commonwealth. The Building Inclusive Child Care (BICC) grantee provides child care centers and early childhood teachers with family mentors and trained child care consultants who assist in facilitating the inclusion of children with disabilities through the integration of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and family-centered practices. The project originally conducted its work primarily in Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton Counties.

Description

Local Advocacy Organizing Coalitions
Description
These grants are intended to support demonstration projects of disability advocacy groups that will identify best practices, barriers to advocacy and opportunities for further advocacy on the local level. Minority Community Grants
Description
In order to ensure that our funding efforts reflect the needs of all Pennsylvanians with disabilities, the (PADDC) has created a small grants program for entities that are led by racial/ethnic minority groups within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Korean Community Development Services Center project will provide information and referral services, along with translation and interpreter services to people with developmental disabilities and their families unable to access the service system because of language and cultural barriers. The project with the South Central Pennsylvania Sickle Cell Council provides education and training for youth with sickle cell disease transitioning into the voluntary adult health care system from the children's health care system.

Policy Information Exchange
Description
The Policy Information Exchange ensures communication between the disability community and policy-makers at all levels. The grantee established a system to communicate information to the disability community via PIE Alerts, publishes the Slice of PIE newsletter, assists in the preparation of position papers and performs other policy related tasks on behalf of Council. Transition to Adult Life

Transition: Community of Choice

Voting Rights
Description
The Voting Rights project works to provide education to people with disabilities regarding their right to vote and assists with accessibility issues around voting. The Disability Voting Coalition (DVC) maintains a current website with exceptional information concerning voting for people with disabilities and the many host organizations across the Commonwealth who collaborate with the DVC to provide support locally to people with disabilities.
