Circle of Champions
The NFI Circle of Champions (CoC) is the distinguished group of U.S. businesses that have received the Secretary of Labor’s New Freedom Initiative Award for innovative and proactive efforts to recruit, hire, and promote people with disabilities. The CoC participants work with ODEP to help inform disability employment policy by sharing proven business strategies that result in hiring, retaining and advancing the careers of talented employees who have disabilities.
How to Improve ROI: Employment Solutions for Small Business – A Roundtable Discussion Among Small Businesses
In May 2007, New Freedom Initiative Award winner, Debra Ruh, Founder and President of TecAccess, joined former Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy W. Roy Grizzard, Jr., Ed. D, and two small business owners in Richmond, Virginia, for a candid conversation. In the resultant video, the business owners discuss their experiences in hiring people with disabilities, and the positive business impact of this hiring decision. They touch upon recruitment, training, workforce diversity and Return on Investment. The discussion is moderated by Amy Armstrong, Ph.D., Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Virginia Commonwealth University.
