During the early 1990's, older workers and those in service-producing industries and white collar occupations were more likely to lose their jobs than were their counterparts a decade earlier. This article examines the differences in the extent and nature of displacement by comparing the displacement experience of workers who lost jobs in the 1990's to those of workers who were displaced a decade earlier. The focus of the article is on long-tenured workers.
