TVA Appoints Bill Campbell As Chief Nuclear Officer

TVA today announced the appointment of William R. (Bill) Campbell, who has more than 33 years’ experience in the commercial nuclear power industry, as chief nuclear officer effective May 14.

Campbell currently serves as the chief operating officer for Entergy Nuclear’s South Region.

As TVA chief nuclear officer, Campbell will be responsible for planning and directing all organizational activities related to nuclear power production, nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, modifications, and all nuclear support services and engineering activities. He will be based in Chattanooga and will report directly to the chief operating officer.

Campbell’s experience in the commercial nuclear power industry has been with several highly regarded utility companies including Entergy Nuclear Generation Company, Duke Energy, Carolina Power and Light and Union Electric Company. In his current position at Entergy, he is responsible for the operating results of the company’s regulated nuclear assets in Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

He has held numerous key management and executive leadership positions in the nuclear industry, which involved directing and managing nuclear site operations, maintenance, construction, and engineering and technical support functions for single and multi-unit sites. Campbell is a certified professional engineer and holds a senior reactor operator’s license.

A native of North Carolina, Campbell graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering. He also has a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.7 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
