Quality Assurance Project Plan Support for Ambient Monitoring Applications

These pages were developed to support State, Tribal, and local agency efforts to develop quality assurance project plans (QAPPs). The latest QAPP guidance and other quality system documents may be found here.

Here we provide tips for writing an approvable plan, and a source of answers to frequently asked questions. We have also provided more specific information on the data quality objective process. We are also developing a Windows® 98 application, Sample Size and Sampling Frequency Estimator, to provide assistance in the estimation of sample sizes required to support a variety of commonly applied surface water monitoring objectives. If you are about to submit a QAPP, it may be helpful to review the primary reasons for disapproval of QAPPs. We have also compiled a list of other useful resources.
