Fires Near Lake Baikal, Russia
Fires continued to burn west of Lake Baikal on May 5, 2002. Compared to the image on April 26, the number of fires burning to the southeast appears to have decreased. This image was acquired by the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA?s Terra satellite. Please note that the high-resolution scene provided here is 500 meters per pixel.
